The Answer is STEAM
The question is "What's the best way to remove wallpaper?". I spent both Saturday & Sunday learning The Answer the hard way. If you ever need to get rid of old wallpaper before painting/remodeling, then remember: The Answer is STEAM.
Fifty bucks at Home Depot for a steamer was cheap compared to the hours, effort, and expense of several failed approaches: special chemicals, mixtures of vinegar & water (an internet favorite!), razor sharp scrapers, and so on.
Even after I discovered The Answer, it still took all day Sunday to remove about 25 meters of wallpaper bordering. All day as in started at 10am and ended at 9pm.
If when I die I am sent to the Hot Place, then I am going to hunt down the [expletive deleted] who thought pasting colored paper to a wall was a Good Idea. He and I will then visit the lowest, foulest sewer in the lowest level. I will then dunk the head of said "innovator" under the effluent for 1000 years. I will then lift his head up, say "You Moron" and redunk for another 1000 years.
Wallpaper. Just Say No.
And remember, The Answer is STEAM.
